Nanaimo Bars

Ingredients:

Mix:
  1. Place the 1/2 cup butter, sugar, cocoa, vanilla and egg in bowl. Set bowl in pan of hot water. Stir until butter is melted. Mix graham wafer crumbs, cocoanut and walnuts; add to cocoa mixture. Pack into ungreased 9" x 9" pan.
  2. Melt the 4 tbsp butter and stir in custard powder, then combine with milk and icing sugar; cream; spread over first mixture in pan. Chill until firm.
  3. Melt chocolate with the 1 tbsp butter and spread evenly over top. Chill until firm.
  4. Cut in bars to serve.
Servings: about 36 bars
